തൃശൂർ അതിരൂപതയ്ക്കുവേണ്ടി തൂങ്കുഴിപിതാവു ചെയ്തകാര്യങ്ങൾ സമകാലീനചരിത്രമാണ്. എങ്കിലും മതസൗഹാർദ്ദവുമായി ബന്ധപ്പെട്ട് അദ്ദേഹം നടത്തിയ പല നീക്കങ്ങളുടെയും വിശദാംശങ്ങൾ പലർക്കും അറിയാവുന്നതല്ല. തൃശൂർ പൂരം മുടക്കമില്ലാതെ നടക്കുന്നതിനായി പിതാവ് ഒരു ഇടയലേഖനം തന്നെ ഇറക്കിയതും അത് ദേവസ്വം ഭാരവാഹികൾ കോടതിയിൽ സമർപ്പിച്ചതും അതിൻ്റെകൂടി പിൻ ബലത്തിൽ അനുകൂലവിധി സമ്പാദിച്ചതും കേരളത്തിൻ്റെ സാംസ്കാരികചരിത്രത്തിലെതന്നെ ഒരു സുവർണ്ണ  അധ്യായമാണ്.

The work done by Archbishop Thoomkuzhy for the Archdiocese of Thrissur is part of contemporary history. However, many people may not know about his efforts to promote religious harmony. One remarkable example is his pastoral letter supporting the smooth conduct of the Thrissur Pooram. The Devaswom officials presented this letter in court and, with its support, obtained a favorable judgment. This is truly a golden chapter in Kerala’s cultural history.
