Fr. Velliyathil has guided many disciples, including Cardinal George Alencherry, Cardinal Baselios Cleemis, several bishops, and many senior priests who now lead the Catholic Church in Kerala. He was a well-known retreat preacher among religious communities and a respected Catholic scholar who pursued higher studies and research at universities in Rome and Germany.
